Growing up an Auburn Tiger, I could not imagine attending any other university. Auburn is my second home, a place where I have flourished, challenged myself academically and formed lifelong friendships.
Auburn University has provided me with a superior education for which I could not be more thankful. The rigorous coursework I have experienced over the years is the reason why I feel confident in my ability to be successful. With public relations, I am able to turn my love for writing and communicating into a career.
Auburn has formed the foundation of my life. It has given me the knowledge and confidence to excel in every aspect of my future. The memories I have made these past four years will forever hold a special place in my heart.
This course emphasizes the Associated Press Stylebook, word usage and spelling for print, broadcast, public relations and web-based writing.
CONCEPTS IN COMMUNICATION & JOURNALISM
This course introduces the basic principles of various communication forms, the dominant communication theories and communication industries.
FOUNDATIONS OF PUBLIC RELATIONS
This course provides an overview of the functions, practices and growing application of public relations in both private industry and the public sector.
CASE STUDIES & ETHICS IN PUBLIC RELATIONS
This course provides public relations students with an understanding of both effective and ineffective methods of PR through studying actual cases from the field itself.
MULTIMEDIA WRITING FOR PUBLIC RELATIONS
This course emphasizes communication tactics; plan, write and produce public relations tools; audience and media selection; print and electronic media.
This course provides the framework for the strategy and integration of messages within public relations.
This course works on identifying, characterizing and evaluating stakeholder groups and alternative channels of communication; formal research procedures including sampling, instrument design, information gathering, data processing, analysis and reporting.
PUBLIC RELATIONS CAMPAIGNS
This course practices the application of theory, research data and problem solving techniques in the development of comprehensive public relations strategies.
WRITING FOR TELEVISION & FILM
This course focuses on the study, practice and development of writing skills and techniques for radio, television and film, including commercials, features, PSAs and dramatic scripts.
MASS MEDIA LAW & REGULATION
This course studies the laws and regulations that govern journalists, media content and industries.
This course introduces newswriting techniques, with emphasis on learning news values, recognizing parts of a story and writing stories that meet standards of accuracy, grammar, style, spelling, law and ethics.
STYLE & DESIGN
This course covers the use of style and design in public relations, including experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Canva, HTML and CSS.
